BANGKOK 29 September 2011 – Buy Now has been appointed the general sales agency for Korea’s low cost airline T’Way Air, which will begin scheduled services to Bangkok 14 October.
The airline, which was established in Seoul Korea in 2004, will fly a daily service from the South Korean capital to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport using a Boeing 737-800 with 189 seats in a single class configuration.
Initially registered as Hansung Airlines, the airline flew services from Cheuongju to Jeju from 2005 until 2008 when the airline ceased operations due to financial constraints.
It underwent restructuring and was relaunched as a low-cost airline 8 August, 2010, under a new brand T’Way Air.
New stakeholders Shinbo Investment Corporation and Tomato Savings Bank invested heavily in the troubled airline enabling it start services in September 2010 on a domestic route between Gimpo and Jeju, once the airline took delivery of two Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
It has since ordered two more of the aircraft that will raise fleet strength to four allowing it to launch services to overseas destinations in Asia.
Buy Now a leading BSP travel agency has secured the general sales agency account for T’Way Air’s passenger and cargo sales. The Bangkok-based travel firm owned by veteran travel agent, Chalong Thevithivarak, recently relinquished its BSP agency status to allow it to pursue a business future as a general sales agency.
Buy Now started its business ventures in outbound tour wholesaling in the late 90s and was instrumental in setting up successful travel agency consortiums to consolidate tour sales to various destinations in Asia and Europe.
T’Way opens its Bangkok office 1 October led by regional manager, BM Choi who will be based at an office suite in Two Pacific Place, Sukhumvit Road.
The general sales agency agreement was signed by the airline president and CEO CH Hahm and Chalong Thevithivarak managing director of Buy Now at a signing ceremony at Pacific City Club Bangkok earlier this week.
T’Way’s first flight (TW101) will depart 14 October from Incheon Airport at 2030 and arrive in Bangkok at 0005.
From Bangkok TW102 departs Bangkok at 0125 and arrives in Seoul at 0825.
