16일 롯데면세점 등에 따르면 동남아시아 부호(富豪)들은 현재 방콕에 한류 음악(K팝)·음식(K푸드)·패션(K패션) 등을 한 장소에서 즐길 수 있는 한류 타운 조성 프로젝트를 진행하고 있다.
A handful of Southeast Asian millionaires are looking to create a large commercial complex in Thailand comprising shops and restaurants that cater to the fans of Korean pop culture, also known as K-pop,
industry sources here said Wednesday.
이 프로젝트에 우리나라에선 드라마제작업체인 초록뱀미디어 등이 참여한 것으로 알려졌다.
이들 기업은 내년 상반기에 15만2천㎡, 6층 규모의 방콕 K타운을 조성할 계획인 것으로 전해졌다.
They are trying to set up a Hallyu Town in Bangkok, where customers will be able to enjoy
and consume Korean culture ranging from music, food and fashion in one place,
according to local duty-free officials familiar with the matter.
1층에는 패션·화장품 매장과 함께 서울 명동·동대문·홍대·이태원·가로수길 등 한류거리가
재현되고, 2~3층에는 내년 3월께 롯데면세점이 입점하는 계획이 추진되고 있다.
Show DC, a Thailand-based firm that has been leading the project, held a business presentation
earlier in the day to attract investors, they said.
롯데면세점은 '공항형 면세점' 형식으로 연면적 약 7천㎡로 매장을 구성해 명품 브랜드와
현지 토산, 한·일 양국의 화장품 등을 주로 판매할 계획이다.
Tentatively named "K-Town," the 152,000 square-meter, six-story establishment is apparently aiming for
completion by the first half of next year.
롯데면세점 관계자는 "정식 면세점 허가는 오픈 직전에 받을 수 있다"며 "그 전에 임시 허가를 받아
입점할 브랜드들과 협상에 나설 것"이라고 전했다.
Lotte Duty Free, a major duty-free chain run by South Korean conglomerate Lotte Group,
was offered the opportunity to open a branch in the shopping complex in March,
mainly selling cosmetics.
YG엔터테인먼트는 식품 자회사인 YG푸드를 통해 6층에 '삼거리 푸줏간' 등 YG푸드가
한국에서 운영하는 식당들을 운영할 것으로 알려졌다.
YG Entertainment, one of the top entertainment companies in Korea, is considering opening a Korean
restaurant there through its food and beverage affiliate YG Food.
4층은 K팝 아카데미, K 뷰티존(화장품·피부관리 등) 등으로 꾸며지고 5층에는
한류 식품과 관련된 K푸드존이 들어선다.
The group that's been pushing the K-Town project plans to expand it to other regions in Thailand such as
Chiang Mai and Phuket, and Malaysia, the sources said.
이 '한류 타운' 프로젝트를 주도하는 동남아 부호들은 방콕뿐 아니라 앞으로 태국 치앙마이,
말레이시아 쿠알라룸푸르, 태국 푸껫 등에도 차례로 비슷한 한류 타운을 조성할
계획인 것으로 알려졌다.
